Hi. We lost connection to the cam, and we do not know the reason. To day Jan is on his way to Samos from Norway, and hopefully he will be able to find the reason and a solution tomorrow. Many regards Torben.

thanks for the compliments.
From Potami to Mikro Seitani about 45 minutes walk
but if you take the car and drive a little further from the end of the mainroad on a gravelroad to the start of the footpath* its a half hour there and starts the really beautifull walk.
From Mikro to Megalo seitani about an hour walk
I dont know the distance from Potami to Megalo Seitani
* I noticed that where the footpath starts a sign is removed so you have to look for a red arrow to the path what goes down

Åh - ja, nu har jeg også fundet Kakoperato på mit detaljerede kort over Samos!
Jeg burde have kigget på dette kort med det samme.
Undskyld min dumhed. Det ser ud til, at man godt i en almindelig Bil kan køre til Kosmadhei; og så kan man gå de sidste par kilometer. Tak for korrektionen.

who is Kakoperato Gorge? and the link on google earth is???where in the southwestern of mountains

Har I nogensinde hørt om Kakoperato Gorge? Jeg har fundet Billeder på nettet som viser Stien dertil; den skulle såvidt jeg kan forstå -ligge i de sydvestlige Bjerge; hvor man kan finde Billederne på Google Earth.
Den ser utrolig spændende ud; men måske er det ikke så nemt at komme dertil; hvis man er i Kokkari.

Hi Benny I will reply in english.
You are slightly misoriented... Both the monastery and the cave is located
on the western or the northwestern part of the island. North of Mt. Kerkis about 2 km. southwest of the village Kosmadhei.
The road from the village is a little rough but it is a very nice tour - I have been there many times, but I have never visited the monastery and the cave. Many regards / Torben

Hello,We have not heard of for while,how"s it going in Kokkari.
Is the season is over or there are guests.
I always look very much forward to you photo"s...but now it is a little quiet on your site.
We have not been this year but in June 2013 decided to go back to Samos.
I watch it every day on your webcam. i think it"s an addiction HI hi hi.

Hi, you are right - it has been rather quiet for some time, but now there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
In 2 days I am in Kokkari again and we have a lot of photoprojects to finish for the website.
In about one week I hope there will be new pictures and reportage on the site.

Hej Jan och Torben. Nu har alla vi skandinaver som kommer som turister återvänt hem. Vi håller kontakt via mail och längtar till nästa sommar då vi kan mötas igen. Vi kommer både i juni och september så vi ser Kåre och Anne två gånger medan vi ser Roy och Karin i september. Er hoppas vi möta på La Casa. Ha en skön vinter i Kokkari.

just got back from sams on 13/9/12.had a great holiday again for the 12 th time, there seems to be more people than other years. No problems at cash bank in KOKKARI.plenty of places to eat.yet again aa nother great holiday, keep up the good work kind regards rita@alan.

Good to hear that you again had a good time. Regarding the ATM's: I wonder who started the rumours about problems with ATMs (and why).
We have not heard about any problems anywhere on Samos - except very small delays in filling up and due to service - but that is normal everywhere.

I was in Kokkari in July.
Unfortunately Thalassa didn't open again this year and now the site stands empty.

There are still many other marvelous places to go though!!

Hej, vi var i Kokkari i juni och då fungerade ATM helt så vi undrar om det är så fortfarande. Vi kommer ner den 1:e september och vi har sett alla år tidigare att allting går på lågvarv så därför är vi oroliga för att man inte fyller på med pengar som i högsäsong.
Hoppas vi ses i september.

Hej - der er stadigvæk ingen problemer på Samos som turisterne bliver generet af. Der har været mange rygter om ATM-problemer - hvem der har startet dem og hvorfor er vi ikke klar over. En enkelt gang var ATM'en her i Kokkari tom i et kort stykke tid (natten mellem søndag og mandag), men det er helt normalt i højsæsonen. Mange hilsner og god tur i september / Torben

 

Many thanks to the crew behind samostour and a special thank for the videos in the July update. We visited restaurant Mythos and were very satisfied with the food and the entertainment. We only have one complain. A few very noisy and dominating guests from Norway were sitting next to us. Their behaviour were no surprise to us because we have observed them even worse at the harbour several times.
We are looking at your videos very often and they bring back a lot of good memories.
Is it possible to see them in a higher resolution?
We will be back in June next year and hope to meet you there.

bericht aan Janke hieronder, misschien krijgen jullie ook nog een reactie van de mensen van deze site, maar ik weet dat het op Samos helemaal niet druk is. Ik was er in juni en toen was het ook veel stiller dan andere jaren en ik hoorde net van een Griekse vriend daar dat het nu erg rustig is terwijl het nog hoogseizoen is. Deels mijden toeristen blijkbaar Griekenland, maar deels hebben touroperators ook veel minder stoelen ingekocht. Vluchten die andere jaren vol waren, worden nu gecombineerd met andere eilanden. Het is jammer, want de Grieken kunnen het nu juist helemaal goed gebruiken als het drukker zou zijn.

Kalimera dear sir, we have been at Kokkari last two weeks for the fifth time ! and we still love this place and the people and we hope to come back next year .During our vacation we have spotted a plant/flower near the road from Vourliotos to the Monastri we have never seen before on Samos island.After i did make some pictures of it we went to the Taverne the blue chairs in Vourliotos and i showed these pictures to the women wo works there and she told me it is a Dragonia or something like that .I have been googeling but i can find nothing about this flower/plant ! .... is it possible i can sent you some pictures about this ?

Hi. We are allmost sure that the plant you have seen is a Dracunculus Vulgaris. You can see it and read about it on our 'Guest page'. This page you can find under 'Guestbook & stats' in the menu. If you were very "lucky" you might have observed an ugly smell from the plant.. A few days it stinks of rotten meat.
If it was not this plant you are very welcome to send a picture, and we will find out the name.

Hi, thanks for the nice words - we try to do our best.
The number of tourists from some countries is slightly reduced and from other countries allmost the same as last year.
We think there are two reasons for that: The tourists private economical situation and all the dishonest / sensation-seeking stories in the news media.
For the tourists Samos is just as wonderful as it used to be.
We wish you a nice tour to Samos / Torben

 

Natuurlijk kan je ook cash mee nemen, maar ik ben net weer thuis na 2 weken Kokkari en de ATM werkte perfect.

Het was er weer heerlijk, warm (warmer dan normaal in juni) en vel wind, ik heb me weer prima vermaakt, het was een heerlijk relaxte vakantie.

Gewoon cash geld meenemen heb je ook geen problemen met automaten toch !

wij zijn er weer eind augustus doeiiiiiiii

Så ses vi nok i Kokari til August.

hi Torben, I'm in Kokkari since last Friday and I see that there is only one ATM.... But it is working alright, so no problem. It's sad that many tourist stay away from Greece, it is so nice here!

Vi är tillbaka i Sverige efter två underbara veckar i Kokkari. Det var trevligt att träffa er två på La Casa så nu har vi ansikten bakom Samostour.dk. Vi kommer tillbaka i september kanske vi ses då. Annars skall vi möta Roy och Karin från Norge och Kaare och Anne. Vi önskar er en fortsatt trevlig sommar

Det var en dejlig uge på Samos (3-6 10-6 )med sol hver dag,men der kom lige en lille byge forbi,den varede 5 min.Var 1 dag i Kokari ellers var det i Pythagorion vi var,men næste år skal vi bo igen i Kokari.Den lille by har forandret sig meget siden vi var der første gang i 1992.

I just spoke with a Greek friend who lives in Kokkari and he assured me that there are still 2 working ATM's in Kokkari! I will be there tomorrow, so than I can see it myself.

I see and hear that its warm with many sun, so I can't wait to be there!

Hi Janet. I am in Kokkari now, and yesterday I only found one ATM. Jan who stays here the whole year also only knows one.
The local people we have asked (incl. people working in the bank) do not know where no. 2 is, so if it is hided somewhere it would be nice to know it.

Thanks foor your answer, I have to wait still a whole week till I am in Samos again.

The restaurants will certainly also have problems with many restaurants and less tourist. But only 1 ATM can give problems, especially when it is emtpy or not working . Than guests, but also shops and restaurants, will have other, extra problems.......

Hi Carel.
It was our plan to have the 4th webcam. We have now changed the plan, so instead of the camera we will install a full web-based weather station covering Kokkari. The presentation will be like the webcams with updates every 1 minute.
We are right now trying to find a good (and not too expensive) solution.

I just have a question about getting money. How is the situation now with the ATM's in Kokkari? I read somewhere that banks have closed there machines and that there is only 1 left in Kokkari. Is that true?

I will also be 'home' in Kokkari from Sunday.
You are right - there is only 1 ATM left in Kokkari!
To day one of the banks who earlier had ATM in Kokkari were asked about the situation, and they told that there (at this moment) was no plan for returning to Kokkari.
I think that the problem is the same as we see with the number of souvenier shops, bars and restaurants. As long as there isn't too many they all can have a good business, but if the limit is passed they all get problems. All the restaurants could have a good business if all the tourist had 2-3 big dinners every day.

Hi Antoinette. To me it looked like they were changing the left part to an apartment. The entrance is moved from the front to the left side of the building (in the small passage). I am not sure if they will do the same with the rest of the ground floor. We will know more in a week, when Jan is back in Kokkari. Many regards Torben

Hi, I am afraid that this not will help much. Regarding the jeep-tour I will recommend you to look at Joe's website at: http://samos-explorer.com and ask him directly.
Info about walking routes near Kokkari can be found at the tourist office in Kokkari. I have seen a book about it and it might be possible that the bookshop in Kokkari has it.
We have now put "walking routes" on our memory-list and info will come on the site, but this will not be ready before next season. Many regards and wishes for a nice week in Kokkari. /Torben

Så er der kun 2 mdr.til vi skal til Samos.Og 4 mdr til vi skal dertil igen,ellers står den på Kreta & Santorini i år.
Vi skal kikke efter lejlighed i Pythagorion på årsbasis,så vi slipper for hoteller.Meningen er at jeg vil bo dernede ca.8 mdr om året,konen vil komme dertil når hun har ferie.Der bor mange venner i Pythagorion hele året,så de har kontakter til rimelig lejlighed og husleje.

Hej, du må have held og lykke med planerne og gode ture til paradiset. Jeg rejser fra Samos i morgen tidlig, men vender frygteligt tilbage i juni, august og oktober/november. Det er ikke så slemt at rejse herfra, når de næste billetter ligger klar.

 

Jeg er spændt på at høre nyt angående Afmærkningen til Kastro Louloudas; det sidste stykke fra Vejen og op.
Håber du har haft en fin tur her i Marts.

Congratulations with the new record of visitors in januari. I think everybody was looking for and dreaming of the summer already .

I have booked last week, so will be in Kokkari again in june. I have to wait some months but am looking forward to it already and your nice site will help me!

Vi måtte bestille gennem svensk Apollo, for at bo det samme sted som sidste år. Jeg håber jeg kan finde vejen til Louloudas efter det kort du har her på siden. Er det sidste stykke afmærket så godt, at der ikke vil blive problemer; og kan man finde stedet hvor man skal forlade vejen eller Stien.
Vi glæder os helt vildt til at komme tilbage igen.

Hej. Mange undrer sig over selskabernes politik vedr. hvilke nationaliteter man synes skal have adgang til hvilke hoteller. Ofte er det muligt pr. tlf. at 'presse' dem til at give det ønskede hotel, men via nettet er det ikke muligt. Det var godt I fandt løsningen.
Ang. Kastro Louloudas er jeg pt. ikke sikker på afmærkningen. Sidste gang jeg var der var afmærkningen, hvor man skal ind på den smalle sti der fører det sidste stykke op til toppen ikke synlig. Det siges, at det ikke er helt nemt at følge stien op ad bjergsiden. Nordfra er det en lang og drøj tur dertil - sydfra skulle det være betydeligt lettere, men heller ikke helt nemt at finde. På min marts-tur skal jeg op i området og jeg skal lade jer vide om afmærkningen er på plads. Stor hilsen / Torben

Hej, ja det er godt at være i god tid! Vores 3-ugers ture i juni og august er også bestilt. Min tur i feb./mar. venter jeg lidt med, da Olympic ikke har deres bookingsystem klar endnu.
Til gengæld tager jeg ned til 'paradis-øen' om 7 dage - det bliver skønt med 3 uger, hvor jeg har hele hotellet for mig selv, og måske er den eneste 'turist' i området. Stor hilsen Torben

Hi - the olive season is in the time span from the beginning of Nov. to the end of Feb. It depends very much of the weather and the location on Samos.

Hi. We have tried to mark all the things visitors need to locate in Kokkari on our 'Kokkari map'.
If anyone find something missing then please tell us.
The laundry shop is on the map. Select "KOKKARI MAP" in the menu and then "Tourist Information". It is also possible to see the location and print the map under "Design your map".

Tak for info. Jeg har checket det, men kunne ikke se nogen problemer.
Med min Firefox er den øverste på listen: 22. Sept. og under 'All year' er den sidste 'Kokkari August 2011'.
Kan problemet være, at jeg har været 'lidt' lang tid om at få August billederne lagt på siden?
Jeg opdagede i øvrigt, at der på update-listen og andre steder er et problem med tekst type/størrelse, så jeg er begyndt at rette lidt af det, men ikke alt, da vi er igang med at lave hele samostour om.

we are looking for an appartment next year (July), not close to kokkari town. Normally we stay at a private house, but last year the owner died. We prefer lemonakia or close to the Hotel Golden Sun. is there everybody who can help us or knows somebody who rent rooms outside kokkari?

Kokkari is really a heavens place on earth. It must be, otherwise so many people wouldn't come back year after year. I've been here 10 times in 13 years and almost half of the people on the beach (Tsamadou) do I know from years earlier. Fantastic.
It's like coming home. And the city with all the restaurants to go to at night. This is really a lovely place, and thanks for this fantastic Webbsite.

Hej. samme afrejsedato for mig, og det er også 3'die tur (men i år) og ankomstdagen er min dag nr. 620 på samme hotel og samme værelse i Kokkari. I har valgt et godt sted at bo (ca 65 m fra vores faste hotel), med en særdeles flink og hjælpsom hotelvært. Hvis I har lyst til en snak med Jan & mig, så få Lefteris til at give os besked.

First of all....., one millions congratulations with the numbers of visitors. (No wonder, when this site is very informative and contains many pictures)

We are heading back to Kokkari next week, for the second year in row.

We have a question, that we hope you can answer: In "All year report 2009 - June" we can see that there is a possiblity for horseback-riding at Ponouris Ranch. Our daughter is a huge horse-fan, and we wonder where this is located?

I know, that Jan has sent you an email.
Regarding horseback-riding. There are a few places on Samos, where it is possible. We can recommend: Panouris Ranch it is located about 1,5 km north - north-east of Kamara.
From Kamara you just have to follow the signs. The last part of the road is a well maintained 'dirt road' so regarding the insurance rules a 4WD car is recommended. Many regards Torben.

Min kone og jeg er netop kommet hjem igen, efter 14 dage i Kokkari; boede på Angelachristina, ikke langt fra Alfa Bar, som vi fik adskillige Drinks på.
Jeg sendte en Hilsen til dig gennem Ejeren af Alfa Bar. En skam vi ikke fik mulighed for at træffe dig, da vi hørte du ville ankomme ca. midt i juni.
Vi rejste den 4 juni, efter 14 skønne dage der, som nok vil blive fulgt op af nyt besøg næste år. Jeg travede flere ture i området syd for Byen. Men vores tur til DHRAKEI var uforglemmelig; men også turen op til Ambelos, og Mavratzei syd for Kokkari var dejlige. Vi fik ikke brug for Bageren aligevel, da der lå et Minimarked lige i nærheden.
Selvfølgelig besøgte vi Vourliotes; Manolates og Moni Vronda.
Men jeg kunne godt tænke mig at prøve at finde Ruinerne af Kastra Louloudhas der skulle ligge et eller andet sted sydøst for Klosteret; man kendte det, men ingen havde været der.

I have been visiting Kokkari for some 20 years and staying in the La Plage hotel. About 17 years ago, I experimented with the art of pebble painting and introducing some children in the village to the art. Examples of my work can be found at La Plage, Cavos coffee bar and the Meltemi restaurant. This year (May12 to May 26), I painted the attached stones, the cat went to Alice, the landlady of La Plage. It's a pleasant hobby and if anyone would like any tips, I would be happy to share these with anyone who may be interested.

Jeg har brugt din Hjemmeside meget; og siger tak for alle de oplysninger man kan trække ud heraf; blandt andet informationerne om Tavernaerne fra andre besøgende. Det er vores første besøg på Samos; vi har været på Kreta i flere år; men vil nu prøve noget nyt; og det ser ud til, at alle er betaget af Kokkari, så vi glæder os til besøget, som måske vil blive fulgt op med flere. Nu får vi se.
Tak for hurtig reaktion på mit Spørgsmål om Bagerierne. Endnu et spørgsmål - bør man have en eller anden form for Badesko på - jeg tænker på, om der er Søpindsvin ved Strandene i Kokkari.

Først et tillykke med valget af Kokkari. Angående søpindsvin og badesko.. Jeg kan varmt anbefale brugen af badesko, men ikke på grund af søpindsvin! Strandene er rullesten i den størrelse der gør ondt at gå på, og det værste er, at stenene fortsætter et par meter ud i vandet, så det er en god ide at bruge badesko. Det bliver i øvrigt hurtigt dybt - bare 4-5 meter fra kysten kan man ikke bunde. Der ér søpindsvin ved kysten, men de er kun der hvor der er klipper - jeg har aldrig hørt om nogen der har set dem ved badestrandene.

Sokolata is the new name for the earlier 'Hook' (last year it was called 'Club Room').
The locations for Sokolata and the laundry are shown on "Kokkari map" under 'Restaurant and bars' and 'Tourist info'.

hello, yesterday I got back from 9 days in Kokkari. It really is completely different there out of season! It was nice to experience that. During daytime the weather mostly was nice (altough the Greek people still wear their wintercoats), during evening and night it was cool.

I only found 2 restaurants that where open: Samia at the end of long beach had just started and Krete at the square was already longer (or maybe all winter?) open. At Krete there was n't really choice what to eat, just one menu, every day something different, simple but it was good.

Everybody is working hard to get ready for season. Several times there was no power because of reparations, but you have also noticed that with the webcams.

Nature is really beautiful now: fress green and al kind of flowers. A took a lot of pictures everywhere. I had hired a car for 3 days, so could drive around, very quiet everywhere. The difference between north and south was clear now, on the southside even more flowers. And the great smell of orangeblossom !!!

Waiting now for next time Kokkari .........

Vad kostar en 3 rätters middag på en skaplig restaurang för en person med några glas vin till? Vad är ca priset för en öl på en bar? Vad kostar solstolar att hyra?

Jeg har aldrig set gæster fra "S", "N" & "DK" bestille en 3-retters menu i juli, og jeg mener ikke at have set det på menukortene. Hovedretterne er altid meget store og normalt er det for varmt i juli til de store måltider. Pris pr. person vil være ca. 22-23 €. Der er del gode restauranter i Kokkari (også nogle hvor man kun kommer én gang). Der er stor forskel på kvalitet, kvantitet og pris for de 'samme' retter. Det er ikke sikkert, at det billigste er det bedste køb eller, at det dyreste er det bedste. Prisen på øl og Ouzo er 2,5-4€ (normalt billigst hvor de 'lokale' kommer).
Solstole mellem 0 og 7-8 € pr dag pr sæt flere barer / tavernaer langs bystranden har gratis solsenge til gæsterne. Her forventes det naturligvis at man køber mad / drikke - Stor hilsen og god tur / Torben

Åter igen vill jag berömma för den fina hemsidan! Är in varje dag och kollar webkameran. Jag ska äntligen få återse Kokkari i slutet av maj! Det var två år sedan sist och jag har längtat tillbaka sedan den dagen vi åkte. Vi bodde på La Plage då. Jättebra boende! Sängarna är de bästa jag har sovit på i Grekland. I år bor vi på Maria (Lägenheter Maria). Ett stenkast bort bara. Trivdes så bra på "blåssidan". Det finns ytterst lite info om Maria. Kan du berätta något? Finns det något vi absolut inte får missa när vi är i Kokkari?

Tak for 'roserne'. Jeg synes, at Fritidsresors beskrivelse af Maria er ret grundig og informativ. Kokkari er et dejligt sted at bo og bruge som udgangspunkt for at se hvad Samos byder på, men det kender I vel fra sidste tur. Hvad man skal opleve afhænger jo af hvilke interesser man har. Brug f.eks. informationerne på 'Samostour' til at planlægge jeres udflugter.

Thank you Torben, Maybe I will try, I am curious how it is without so many tourist. It should be completely different then. I have been in Kokkari several times, mostly in june and last year in august (very hot!). I think nature is beautifull in april?

By the way: I like this site very much! Nice that Samostour now has 3 cameras. I take a look almost every day. Do you already have a location for the 4th camera?

Hi Janet. You are right - Kokkari is VERY different when it is "out of season". I was asked what time of the year I like best, but I could not answer... every time of the year has its advantage, and I like them all. The nature is beautiful in April, and for walking spring and autumn is the best.
Yes- we have now a location for "Camera 4", but we are right now a little uncertain about it, because we have to be 100% sure, that absolutely no people in the area can be / or feel that they are watched - may be it is
better to show the harbour area. An alternative to a camera could be to install a weather station - we also have to look at the finances. It is absolutely not cheap to have the site running, and we try our best to end the financial year with a big ZERO (or the smallest possible minus) on the bottom line. Camera or weather station will hopefully be on the site in June. Best regards Torben

 

How is het now in Kokkari? I am thinking of going there begin April, so before the season is starting. What restaurants are open now? Are there some tourists already?

Hi Janet. I have just returned from Kokkari after 20 days in paradise! (25 Feb.-17 Mar.).
I had: spring-vinter-spring & "danish summer". It will absolutely not be the
last time I visit Samos at that time of the year!! Not many tourist - I think I saw 5 or 6.
You do not have to go hungry - the is allways (every day) at least one place open where you can eat.
After a walk through Kokkari you will know the 'open-days'. Many places are preparing to open around Easter.

Hi - good news to you.. There are to my knowledge no changes concerning Wave Bar & Thalassas. Georgios (who also is partner in Wave) has closed La Bussola and is now finishing a total renovation of La Casa, so it will open as a family-restaurant. Best regards Torben

Its nice once again to see photos of our favourite Greek island, we have had 3 fantastic holidays on Samos with our family, and hope to be returning very soon. We find it sad that some hotels in Kokkari do now not allow children, knowing how much the Greek people love children we find it strange.
Please post as many photos as possible, and thankyou for a brill site.

Hi - thanks for the info. WHAT??: NO CHILDREN!! ??? We have never heard anything so curious! Please send us the name of the hotels (by mail NOT in the guestbook) and we will investigate it and publish the result. You are right - this is absolutely NOT normal for Greece!! Many regards / Torben

Follow up:
Regarding "NO CHILDREN" hotels.
For some reason Thomsom has decided that guests from 'UK' not are allowed to bring children to the hotels 'Venus' & 'Lambros' in Kokkari. It looks a 'little' weird, because other guests can have their children with them.. so the hotels are NOT 'children-free'.
A solution could be to find another hotel OR book a 'flight-only' by Thomson and book the room directly at the hotel. Best regards / Torben

 

 

Så Samos.... så kommer vi igen....... igen glæder vi os til Kokkari - Vi plejer at veksle mellem La Plage og Leftheris... og denne gang blev det så Leftheris med air-condition og køleskab... Inger Lises far og mor har vi endelig fået overtalt til at tage 2 uger på La Plage i slutningen af juni... og de glæder sig bare så meget. Vi håber at se mange kendte ansigter, både i Kokkari og resten af Samos - Kh fra Steen og Inger Lise

I have changed the text regarding the webcam change to make it more clear.
The new text is now:
The preliminary plan is 3 cameras as follows:
1. Pointing East - Very similar to the "old" cam.
2. The new one - pointing West.
3. A new visitor-, and firebrigade operated 'turnable' webcam to monitor the mountain area to the South of Kokkari.

'1' and '3' will be placed at the same location. This might be at Tsamadou Hotel or another location, depending on relibility for internet connection, costs and best possible view.

What,going on in Kokkari.Wave bar closed?Yorgos a.Nataschka a newfamily restaurant.Angelis and Mirjam finished.Do they come back.Since ,79 i am twice a year in Kokkari,hope to see myi old friends,Manolis,Nicos,Thasses Vayos and many others in May nexr year again.

Its great to see Kokkari again after we visited in September. The temperatures are wonderful for December. We are all shivering in England with temperartures of -10 and below and lots of snow so roll on June when we shall be visiting again.

Ook wij zijn echte Kokkari-fans. En dan met name appartementen Villa Themos zijn wij grote fans van. Een gezellig kleinschalig complex met mooie studio's, een geweldig uitzicht, prima zwembad en oergezellige bar en leuke eigenaresse. Wat wil een mens nog meer. Een goed restaurant natuurlijk. Daar zijn er veel van in Kokkari maar The Garden vlak voor Lemonakia aan de linkerkant is zeker een aanrader. LEkker eten en een goeie sfeer in een mooie tuin.
Zeker een keer proberen dus.

Na 25 jaar vakantie in samos(kokkari) blijft Villa Themos nog steeds nummer 1.vanwege de ligging en
Ruim-sfeervol-schoon App.

Three cheers for Torben for putting the webcam into action again!!!!

Ever since my stay on Samos in May 2010 have I consulted the webcam once or twice a day. Apart from giving me nostalgic memories of Kokkari, the webcam deserves a special praise for the following reason: as my wife could not come with me to Samos for health reasons, we had invented a morning ritual - every day at 8.30 sharp I would walk along the beach towards Tsamadou Hotel and wave to the camera.
It worked, and as soon as my wife seemed to recognize me, she would call me by mobile phone.
So there is a special thank you due to those who made this family reunion possible.

Your webcam was an inspiration to our recent visit to Samos - you called it a gem of an island - and it certainly is. We only visited Kokkari - staying in Votsalakia - but were totally taken with it. I am sure we will return for a stay.

Kalimera, it looks there is something wrong again with the webcam. Almost every day I take a look how it is in Kokkari, but now it's still on yesterday afternoon.

How is it there now? I think the weather is changing and getting cooler soon? I was thinking of still going there for one week on the 15th october, but I'm nog sure yet.

Nice to see the updates from october. Good job as usual from both of you, I myself want to thank Torben for the nice trip we took with my two friends Hans & Jan-Christer to see the tunnel from both ends, very interesting, espacially to see the north end who is so remarkely hidden and the joy to see the east side where I havn´t seen even though I been on the Island since 1985. I enver you Torben that you are going one more time this year, but I think you deserved it since you last time mostly had vacation with bath and nice evenings at the bars. Thanks for info. I have contacted hotel Tsamadou where we have our camera located. There have been a power break in Kokkari at 07:28 and they promished to go upstairs and reset our system. I am just returned from Kokkari to the cold Denmark - so I hope that a reset will solve the problem - otherwise we have a problem... Best regards Torben

Heel veel leuke mensen ontmoet.
En het was weer geweldig!!
Volgend jaar komen we weer terug. Jullie maken het helemaal goed met de webcam en de schitterende foto"s.Kan ik lekker elke dag gluren en met mij vele andere Kokkari gangers. Ik zie dat het prachtig weer is ,dus geniet er maar lekker van. Bedankt!!!!!!!

Very sorry to hear about the fire. Have been coming to Kokkari since 1989. I was there in ' I think it was 1990' when there was a very big fire and we had to leave the island very quickly and the plane had to re fuel, at Mikonos, to get back to England.
We are coming back in Sept for 2 weeks,,,,all ready having had two weeks in July.
We have stayed at many hotels in Kokkari,,,,,starting at the Gallini with Markela,,,,,then to Charlies at Long Beach for many years,,,also with Costa at Corali,,,sadly pased away now.Then the Lemnos with Despina.
The later years have been spent at the Venus,,,,and as we get older it is very much to our liking. We will make an effort to come in and see you at the Wave Bar in july.

Til alle som ikke har vært på Samos..... ikke nøl!!!

(Vi var der 2 uker i juli, og kunne gjerne vært i ytterligere 14 dager) Har vært på flere andre greske øyer, men dette var en skikkelig "høydare". Var på øytur i leiebil, tittet de andre turistmålene, og kan definitivt anbefale Kokkari som det klart mest innbydende reisemålet. Ikke mange shoppingmuligheter, men det er kort avstand til Samos by for de litt mer handlegale.

Ved litt vel høye bølger for barna i Kokkari enkelte dager, er det korte gang-/sykkelavstander til andre strender hvor vannet er "flatt". Flust av tavernaer, og masser av god mat (Spesielt kan nevnes tavernaen "Hello Hello", som ligger nesten øverst på den vestre stranden).

Totalt sett et reisemål man vil ønske seg tilbake til, og kun et tidsspørsmål før "we will be back"!

Man kan også købe Samos Doux (den søde dessertvin fra Samos) i Salling Super.
Tidligere kunne man også købe både hvidvin (Samaina) og rosévin (Fokianos) fra Samos i bl.a. Superbrugsen men det er ved at være længe siden.

Hej. Nettv fra Samos er jeg ikke bekendt med. Der er flere græske TV-kanaler på nettet - vi havde link til dem, men jeg fjernede dem for få dage siden, da det viste sig at en af dem spredte virus! Det resulterede i at vores hovedcomputer til denne side gik ned med et brag - efter 4 dages rensearbejde er den nu opgivet! Ang. On friday the 13st of August I will arrive in Kokkari for the 5th time. I like to travel a lot all over the world, but Kokkari on Samos is a favorit place to return to. There I will have vacation in stead of travelling . A very nive place with al lot of good restaurants with perfect views and good food!

This site and the webcam are perfect to take a regular look and enjoy already a bit from Samos. Thanks!

yes it is finished now, but not in the way we would like to do it... There are still 3 curves instead of a straighi line!! May be the constructer was paid for the number of curves and the length... The old greek matematiciants knew that the shortest distance between two points were a straight line. but someone may have forgotten that.. Best regards Torben

Wij zouden 8 juni naar kokari gaan voor onze huwelijksreis.Wegens een zware operatie die ik moet ondergaan(Ron)hebben wij helaas deze moeten annuleren.Nu is de planning dat we in aug gaan en toch nog een geweldige huwelijksreis te hebben op het schitterende eiland Samos.

Vanuit Pythagorion kan je met de boor naar Padmos je moet er wel rekening mee houden dat je er bijna 3 uur over doet maar Padmos is de moeite voor een bezoekje waard ! Neem wel een jas of een trui mee op open zee kan het nogal koud zijn.

Wat een mooie site heben jullie gemaakt. Ik kijk ieder dag op de webcam. Wij zijn verliefd geworden op Samos. zo mooi en rustig en vooral aardige mensen.
Onze dochter werkt nu voor het tweede jaar op Samos(als reisleiding) en daarom volgen wij zoveel mogelijk ook via deze site. Volgende week kom ik zelf ook weer voor een paar dagen. Dat is mijn derde keer maar ik kijk er erg naar uit.

Our family is going to stay the 4th time in kokkari this summer. Staying again at Manos Apt. direcly on Long Beach, really brilliant. Hope, he tides up his shed , because I am coming again with a lot of windsurfing stuff. Meanwhile we found a lot of friends in Kokkari. This is like coming home every year. Vår resa är också klar till Kokkari.Vi kommer den 2 augusti och stannar till 4 september.Innan dess hinner jag (Eva) med en tur med barnbarnet 1 vecka någon gång i början av juni.Nästan 6 veckor i år igen.Kram till alla goa vänner från Eva o Bengt

Da var turen til Kokkari klar.
Kommer til varmen 14. juli for 14 dager, kan ikke nesten ikke vente på sommeren nå.

Site fantasties, geeft heel veel goede informatie, wij willen in juni en september naar hotel Lambros Kokkari., Verheugen ons er al op.zijn 3 jaar geleden ook in Kokkari geweest maar door Uw site ondekt dt we nog heel veel niet hebben gezien en ondekt.Ga zo door .In een woord Fantasties.

Er der nogen, der er opdateret på Star-Tour´s planer for 2010, jeg kan ikke finde Kokari (og La Plage) på bestillingssiden. Har de droppet Kokari og er der andre, som har overtaget dette skønne lille hotel.

Hej Niels. Jeg har lige checket med La Plage. Kontrakten for 2010 er skrevet.
Det er nok som de foregående år, at Kokkariområdet først kommer med på bookingsiden i slutningen af oktober, samtidig med at det trykte katalog udkommer.

Friday we are going to Kokkari for the 4th time, rest of the year we are homesick to that beautiful island with the very friendly people.
Our daughter, man and baby are now in Kokkari and have seen you already, so nice.
I look every day to the webcam now, so we are a littlebit there now with our children.

Samos has this year been very lucky! To our knowledge there has within the last 2-3 weeks only been a small fire in the area of Ireon and Mili.

Vi skal rejse til Samos for 5. gang primo august 2009.
Vi har et praktisk spørgsmål. Findes der lampeolie på Samos. Vi har købt en Olielampe til vor værtspar og er nu kommet i tvivl om der kan købes lampeolie i Grækenland?.
Vi syntes at jeres hjemmeside om Samos er fantastisk, vi ser på siden både sommer og vinter.

Så kan det være at vi mødes nede i paradiset...
Ja lampeolie har været brugt i Grækenland i mindst 4-5000 år (og bruges stadig).
Alle mini- og supermarkeder (næsten) har det på hylderne. MEN den lampeolie der bruges rundt omkring på barer og restaurationer synes jeg lugter rigeligt meget, men det er måske fordi de køber den billigste? Det kunne være måske være en god ide at tage en lille flaske af den gode lugtfrie med.

We are returning to Kokari for a holiday on 25th June after 15 years and staying at the Kallidon Palace hotel, so looking forward to it, but i guess much has changed since our last visit. Ja, vi nyder vejret her på Samos 31 - 34 grader og let vind.
Da Kameraet brændte sammen fandt vi virkelig ud af hvor mange der benytter det.
Det er bare dejligt med de mange tilbagemeldinger vi har fået.
Ang. opdateringer på samostour, så er planen, at vi i de kommende dage både skal have lavet 'newsletter' og have nye billeder lagt på.

So Sorry that the web cams not feeling to well...but glad to here that it will soon be fixed, I miss my daily fix of a look at the Kokkari beach..and look forward to when the camera is up and running again. Hi everyone,
I just returned from my 15th trip to Kokkari and it was the first time that I had been there in the spring. The colours of the flowers are amazing!
I stayed at Hotel Tsamadou, also for the first time, and can highly recommend this very friendly and comfortable hotel.
It was great to meet so many old and new friends and I really miss the sound of the sea. But I am going back in July, so I don't have too long to wait!
Thanks for this great site. I love checking in daily for the updates and to see who's doing what!
